Abstract Rapture are a thrash/metal band from Luxembourg founded in 2001 by Nol (guitar), Drittt (vocals), Stephen Elkington (bass) and Stève Ruamps (drums). They start playing concerts in 2002 and their first demo “Asphyxiation” was released in autumn 2003. Unfortunately, both the bass player and the drummer left the band at that point and for one year the band remained inactive until Rol (bass) and Spit (drums) join the band. News songs were then created and the concerts started again. From gig to gig the audience was growing and, progressively, Abstract Rapture gained a certain musical maturity.
In 2005, they released “Dead End Entry”, an auto produced EP that was well-received by the fans and the local press. As their music became louder and more aggressive, they recruited a fifth member, Yogy (guitar), to expand their sound.
In 2007, Abstract Rapture won the Wacken Metal Battle in Luxembourg and reached 3rd position at the international final contest at the W:O:A. in Wacken, Germany.
As the band has a growing hard following, they hooked up with Maddening Media, a German metal label that produced their first LP, “Democadencia” in March 2008. The press reviews were very positive. One year later, Rol and Abstract Rapture decided unanimously to separate and Stephen Elkington rejoined the band.
Ever since, Abstract Rapture, in addition to local concerts, often play abroad (Germany, France, Belgium, Romania) and regularly for bands, like Korn, Behemoth, Entombed, Kataklysm, Primal Fear, U.D.O., Soulfly, and Channel Zero.
In February 2011, ABSTRACT RAPTURE went back into the studio to record their second LP.
In July 2011, « Earthcrush » will be released.
